3 Point Goal
CELEBRATING OUTSTANDING ATHLETES
Our Story
In the summer of 2010, a small group of women came together to address a noticeable gap in Berks County basketball: the lack of recognition and awards for girls’ basketball players, while boys’ players had been honored for decades. The group, which included former players, coaches, officials, and fans, all shared a deep passion for the game. Many of the women had played basketball themselves, with some even playing before the introduction of the five-player game for girls.
At that meeting, the decision was made to form an organization dedicated to recognizing and honoring the achievements of girls in basketball. The name "3 Point Goal" was chosen with intentional meaning—first, as a nod to the iconic three-point shot, and second, as a representation of our core values: Play, Lead, Inspire.
In 2012, 3 Point Goal proudly presented its first awards: a $100 scholarship to a senior from each Berks County school, along with a $500 award for the inaugural Jean Frey Award winner. Thanks to the generous support of donors and fundraising efforts, these awards have grown significantly over the years. Today, the senior award has increased to $400, and the Jean Frey Award has risen to $1,000. Since its inception, 3 Point Goal has distributed over $75,000 in scholarships and awards to deserving girls basketball players in Berks County.
This version maintains a professional tone while keeping the personal and candid aspects of your organization's story. Let me know if you need any further adjustments!
